Some gigs are just gigs… and then there are the ones that feel like a full-circle moment for a town.

On Saturday 7 March 2026, the Wentworth Showgrounds will host the Concert for Cancer Research, and the big headline story is this: Karly Jewell is coming home. The former local who grew up in Wentworth is returning to headline a hometown fundraiser after building serious momentum on bigger stages, including international touring.

A “homecoming” headline after overseas success

If you’ve followed Karly’s journey, you’ll know she’s long outgrown the “local singer” label, but Wentworth is still part of her DNA. She’s spoken openly about growing up in Wentworth and taking inspiration from the music that used to roll through Mildura and the region.

In recent years she’s been touring internationally (including multiple tours of Japan) and pushing her music further and wider.

And now she’s made it crystal clear: she’s heading home to headline this cancer benefit in Wentworth...  her biggest hometown festival-style show yet.

The event: Concert for Cancer Research (Wentworth Showgrounds)

This is a 100% not-for-profit community fundraiser, with donations supporting the Australian Cancer Research Foundation

When: Saturday 7 March 2026
Time: 12pm–9pm
Where: Wentworth Showgrounds

Entry is free, but you’re asked to register (it helps the organisers plan the day) — and if you can, throw in a donation because that’s the whole point: a brilliant day out that backs something bigger than all of us.  link ...Humanitix

Karly Jewell tops the bill, with a full run of supporting acts across the day including Audio Reign, Nevermind the Dirt, The Dreadful Tides and more.

It’s also designed as a proper all-ages showgrounds day out — think family entertainment,  energy, and “everyone you know” bump-ins between sets.

Food, drinks, and the one rule you can’t miss

There’ll be food vans, coffee, and ice cream on-site. The event info also notes BYO beverages is allowed — but it’s STRICTLY NO GLASS (leave it at home).

Why this one matters

Cancer touches just about every family around here in one way or another, which is why events like this hit different. A hometown artist returning after international runs, a community pulling together, and a showgrounds full of music… all aimed at helping fund the research that changes outcomes.

So if you’ve been waiting for a reason to head over to Wentworth for a big day out, this is it. Come for the homecoming headline, stay for the atmosphere, and back a cause that deserves every bit of support.
