About Out & About Sunraysia
Out & About Sunraysia started almost by accident.
My YouTube videos, and later this website, began as a personal bookmark in history during the 2022/23 Mildura floods. Like many locals, I wanted to capture what was happening around our region — the river, the changes, the stories and the way the community responded.
What started as a few videos has grown into a much broader local guide covering Mildura, Sunraysia, the Mallee and plenty of places beyond.
The aim has stayed pretty simple: get out there, see what is happening and share the places, people and stories that make this part of the country worth exploring.
Out & About Sunraysia is now a mix of local stories, videos, travel ideas, river updates, food, fishing, camping, events, history, businesses and the occasional story that probably wouldn't get told anywhere else.
More than just somewhere to visit
Sunraysia has a lot going on, and I like covering the region from a few different angles.
That might mean checking out a new local business, walking through a national park, following what is happening along the Murray, visiting a country event, finding a decent pub meal, showing a free camp, exploring some local history or simply heading down a road to see where it ends.
There is also plenty of practical information — river and storage conditions, fishing and outdoor stories, day trips, places to eat, things to do and updates that might be useful to locals and visitors.

Video has been a big part of Out & About from the beginning, with everything from river updates and events to road trips, attractions, local stories and the odd adventure along the way.
Hire & Store
I also offer a growing range of useful hire gear and small products aimed at travelling, camping and getting out and about, including equipment and locally made 3D printed items.
Local stories without too much fuss
I use plenty of technology to film, photograph, edit and publish what I do, but I still think the important bit is the story itself.
A fancy camera doesn't make an interesting place interesting. The people, the history, the location and the little details are what make something worth watching or reading.
I also try to keep Out & About fairly straightforward. I'm not pretending every stop is a world-class attraction or every meal is life-changing. If something is interesting, useful or simply worth knowing about, that's usually enough reason to go and have a look.
Built around the local community
One of the best parts of Out & About Sunraysia has been the community that has grown around the website and YouTube channel.
A lot of stories and ideas come from people getting in touch, leaving comments, pointing me toward places, sending photos or suggesting something I should go and check out.
Local businesses, tourism operators, community groups and event organisers are also an important part of what I cover. If there is something happening around the region that deserves a bit more attention, I'm always interested in hearing about it.
