Mildura Rural City Council’s annual Australia Day celebrations are on Monday 26 January, kicking off at 8:00am at Nowingi Place (Hugh King Drive, Mildura), running through to 11:00am.
What you can expect on the morning
This one’s designed for an easy “rock up and enjoy” start to the day:
Free Lions Club breakfast (yes please)
Coffee van on site for the caffeine crew
Live entertainment to set the mood
Australia Day Awards announcements — a proper spotlight on local legends
Bring a picnic rug or chair and make yourself comfy
And honestly, the location does half the work — Nowingi Place sits right on the Murray River backdrop, with that big open grassed amphitheater feel that just works for community events.
The part I love most: local recognition
The Australia Day Awards are one of the best bits of the morning. It’s a chance to clap for the people and groups who quietly (and sometimes loudly!) make the Mildura region better every week.
Quick tips (so you enjoy it more)
Arrive early if you want to snag breakfast without the queue.
Hat, water, sunnies — it’s Mildura… you already know the deal.
Pack a chair/rug so you can sit back and soak it all in.
Also happening around the region
If you’re not in Mildura itself (or you want to do a “double header”), other Australia Day Event locations also include Underbool, Irymple, Colignan, Millewa (Cullulleraine), Merbein, Red Cliffs, Murrayville, and Ouyen.
