Seventh Street is set to reopen to traffic from 5pm tomorrow, Friday 9 October, as Mildura Rural City Council wraps up the Seventh Street Reconstruction Project.
The works have involved much more than simply resurfacing the road, with the project delivering a new road pavement, kerb and channel, upgraded footpaths and ramps, traffic islands and raised sections for future pedestrian crossings.
Council says there have also been significant upgrades to stormwater infrastructure as part of the project.
The construction has caused traffic changes and disruption for nearby businesses, residents and motorists while the works have been underway.
MRCC has thanked local businesses, residents and the wider community for their patience and understanding while the project has been carried out.
With the major works now finishing up, the reopening will restore traffic access through Seventh Street from Friday afternoon.
While the fresh road surface will be the most noticeable change for drivers, the project has also delivered new pedestrian infrastructure and substantial work below the surface through the stormwater upgrades.
The raised sections installed as part of the reconstruction have also been designed to cater for future pedestrian crossings.
