$3 Million Pledge to Give Robinvale's Riverfront a Major Boost

Member for Mildura Jade Benham Robinvale's Murray River waterfront could be in line for a $3 million upgrade, with Member for Mildura Jade Benham announcing a funding commitment ahead of Victoria's state election on 28 November.

The announcement, made on 2 November 2026, is part of an election commitment by the Nationals and Liberals to help complete Swan Hill Rural City Council's Robinvale Riverfront Masterplan, should the Coalition win government.

The proposed investment would build on existing improvements and help make the riverfront a more attractive and accessible destination for locals and visitors.

What's Planned for Robinvale?

The proposed $3 million investment would support several projects around the town's riverfront precinct.

  • Centenary Park: Completing irrigation and landscaping improvements.
  • Robin Street: New car parking near the planned playground and dog park.
  • Robinvale Community Arts Centre: Improvements to the building to create more opportunities for retail and community use.
  • Walking connections: Better links between the town centre and the Murray River.

The broader masterplan also considers future development opportunities, including housing, while making better use of Robinvale's riverfront location.

A Boost for Tourism and Local Businesses

Robinvale already has one of the region's great natural attractions right on its doorstep — the Murray River.

The proposed upgrades could make the waterfront an even better place for families to gather, visitors to stop and local events to take place.

Swan Hill Rural City Council has welcomed the election commitment, with Mayor Stuart King highlighting the potential benefits for the town.

An improved waterfront could encourage visitors to spend more time in Robinvale, explore the town and support local businesses.

For a town with plenty to offer people travelling along the Murray, making the riverfront more inviting could provide a welcome boost to tourism.

What is the $3 million for?

The funding pledge would help complete key projects in the Robinvale Riverfront Masterplan, including park improvements, parking, community facilities and connections to the river.

Building on Existing Improvements

The $3 million commitment isn't the beginning of Robinvale's riverfront redevelopment.

Council has already been progressing improvements under its wider masterplan, including the Robinvale Riverfront Terraces project, designed to create a welcoming public gathering space overlooking the Murray River.

The latest funding promise is aimed at helping complete further stages of the overall vision.

But There's a Catch

The $3 million is an election promise, not funding that has already been secured.

The commitment depends on the Nationals and Liberals forming government following Victoria's state election on Saturday 28 November.

There is also no confirmed construction timetable for the additional projects covered by the promise.

Nevertheless, the announcement puts Robinvale's riverfront redevelopment firmly on the political agenda.

And with the Murray River playing such an important role in the town's lifestyle and tourism appeal, it's certainly a project worth keeping an eye on.

What do you think? Would a revamped riverfront encourage more people to stop and spend time in Robinvale?
