Carols by the Lake returns to Ouyen Lake this Sunday

This Sunday night, the 14th of December, from 7:30 pm the community is invited to gather at Ouyen Lake for a festive evening of music, singing and community togetherness. The event, will take place on the lake’s shores, offering a beautiful lakeside setting for families, friends to catch up and celebrate.

A perfect summer night at the Lake

Ouyen Lake has become a local hub thanks to the efforts of the volunteer-driven project led by Ouyen Inc. The lake has transformed from a former reservoir and now offers a walking track, fishing pontoons, swimming, kayaking and picnic areas.

With lawns, BBQ facilities, and open water under the stars, the lake provides an ideal backdrop for outdoor celebrations and the Carols event promises just that: peaceful water, warm community vibes, and a festive soundtrack.

Community, tradition and celebration

This won’t be the first time Ouyen Lake has played host to community gatherings: past events (like the Mallee Root Festival) have drawn locals and visitors alike for family-friendly fun, live music and a celebration of Mallee spirit.

Carols by the Lake fits that tradition, a chance for people of all ages to come together, sing, share stories, maybe enjoy a picnic, and soak up the calm of the water and the warmth of community as the year winds down.

Good news for campers: overnight stay available

Importantly for those travelling from afar, camping at Ouyen Lake is now open, offering an opportunity for families or groups to make a weekend of the celebration, but get in quick as spots are limited and its best to book ahead of time.
