If you love your sport with a bit of grit, noise and energy — clear your Sunday. The Gates Sidecar Cup is back at Mildura’s Olympic Park Speedway on Sunday 25 January 2026, and it’s shaping up as a ripping way to kick off a big sidecar run through the next few months at the track.
Fresh off a huge Jason Lyons Solo Trophy night (with local Red Cliffs rider Jaimon Lidsey taking the win), the club’s spotlight now swings straight onto sidecars — and word is this one has drawn a large field.
What’s happening?
The Gates Sidecar Cup is exactly what it sounds like: Australia’s best sidecar teams going at it under lights at Olympic Park. It’s fast, physical, and a totally different vibe to solos. Two-person teams (rider + passenger) working as one, sliding hard and hunting drive off the turns.
And if you’ve never seen sidecars at Olympic Park before… you’re in for a treat. The passenger isn’t just along for the ride, they’re moving all over the outfit to keep it planted and firing. It’s equal parts skill and bravery.
