If you like your motorsport loud, fast and a bit wild, Olympic Park Speedway is the place to be this weekend.

The 2026 Australian Speedway Sidecar Championship is coming to Mildura across Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25, with the Australian title to be decided on Saturday night.

Friday night is the qualifier, with 16 teams fighting for the last spots in Saturday’s championship field. The top seven will go through to join the nine seeded teams already locked into the main event.

There’s already plenty of quality in the field too. The seeded riders include the top four place getters from the 2025 championship in BowenMark Plaisted and Ben Pitt, Trent Headland and Jaxon Rayner, Tyler Moon and Adam Lovell, and Justin Plaisted and Brian Anthony. Plaisted and Pitt also won when the title was last held in Mildura back in 2023, so there’s already a good story building into this one.

If you’re heading along, it’s an early start both nights. Gates open at 4pm, practice starts at 5.30pm, the parade is at 6.30pm, and racing starts at 7pm. Organisers say there is no one-ticket entry for both nights, so Friday and Saturday need to be bought separately.

There’s also a Saturday morning ticket session from 10am to 12 noon, where people can grab their tickets and put their chairs in early.

For Saturday night, ticket prices are $30 for adults, $25 for pensioners, $15 for students aged 13 to 17, and free for kids 12 and under.

It’s shaping as a big ANZAC Day weekend for Mildura and should draw a strong crowd of both locals and visitors. Olympic Park has been building towards this one, and now gets to host one of the biggest sidecar meetings on the calendar.

If you’ve never seen sidecars live, this would be a ripper place to start. They’re fast, aggressive, and a bit chaotic in the best possible way. And if you already love your speedway, this is the sort of meeting you don’t want to miss.

One final reminder from organisers — Olympic Park is a family venue and there is no BYO by law.

Mildura should be in for a noisy, dusty and action-packed weekend under lights.
